Racing Prodigy Mazda Spec MX-5 Golden Ticket Series

Welcome to the Racing Prodigy Mazda Spec MX-5 Golden Ticket Series powered by SuckerPunch, an Official iRacing series with its regular season running February 16 to March 31 and the one-day post-season April 7. This series offers participants the chance to earn one of six Prodigy Passes, granting all-expense paid trips to Prodigy Week Part 2, May 13-15, and a shot at becoming a paid pro driver in the real-world Prodigy Racing League (PRL).

  • The regular season is spread over 7 weeks with races held from Friday to Sunday, featuring the Mazda MX-5 (circa 2010) left-hand drive configuration.
  • With 7 time slots per week and allowing for 2 drop rounds, the competition is set to be intense.
  • The top 48 in series points will advance to the post-season finals, competing for three Prodigy Passes.
  • Three additional Prodigy Passes will be awarded by the Prodigy Search Committee to standout drivers among the top 25% of the series points who submitted a video and answers to a questionnaire.
  • All cars and tracks are included with a basic iRacing Membership.

Entry Requirements [CLOSED AS OF FEB 29, 9 AM ET]

To enter future PRL iRacing events, you need a Racing Prodigy Membership (RPM). You may compete with either the PRL iRacing Game Pass or the PRL Combo Game Pass (also gains you entry into the Racing Prodigy Mazda MX-5 Cup Golden Ticket Series on RaceRoom).

If you already have an account you can login to check your subscription status. If you do not, then one will be created for you during signup.

Stage 1 Format: Official iRacing Series

  • Official iRacing Series (found in the “Series List” in iRacing)
  • Length: 7 Weeks with 2 overall Drops (February 16 – March 31)
  • Car: [Legacy] Mazda MX-5 Cup – 2010 fixed setup (included with iRacing membership)
  • Tracks: Laguna Seca (Full), Charlotte (roval), Lime Rock (classic), Summit Point (full), Rudskogen, Oulton Park (Intl), VIR (full) – all included with iRacing membership
  • 7 Weekly Race Time Slots:
    • Fridays:
      • 4:00 PM ET / 8:00 PM GMT
    • Saturdays:
      • 4:00 AM ET / 8:00 AM GMT
      • 11:00 AM ET / 3:00 PM GMT
      • 4:00 PM ET / 8:00 PM GMT
    • Sundays:
      • 4:00 AM ET / 8:00 AM GMT
      • 11:00 AM ET / 3:00 PM GMT
      • 4:00 PM ET / 8:00 PM GMT
  • Race Details: Snaked order splits; qualifying and 20-minute races; 20 racers max per race (10 racers min for official race)
  • Series Points System: 1st through 20th earn points for each race. Your weekly best single race result is taken each weekend if you run 1-4 races; average of your best 2 single race results is taken if you run 5-7 races.

Stage 2 Format: Tournament Championship

Top 48 leaders in points from the series advance to enter the Series Finals on:
Sunday, April 7 starting at 1 PM ET / 5 PM GMT
Tracks will be announced before Stage 1 ends and will be selected from the tracks used in the series.

24 drivers (snaked from Top 48)
Single Championship Race
Qualifying + 30-minute race
WINNER EARNS A PRODIGY PASS


GROUP 2:

24 drivers (snaked from Top 48)
Single Championship Race
Qualifying + 30-minute race
WINNER EARNS A PRODIGY PASS


GROUP 3

8 drivers (4 selected from Group 1 and 4 selected from Group 2: per Group, 2 are selected via fan vote and 2 by judges)

Last Chance Finals (LCF): 2 Races
Race 1 = Qualifying + 15-minute race; 8 points for first down to 1 point for 8th (1pt increments)
Race 2 = Inverted grid based on Race 1 results, 20-minute race: 8 points for first down to 1 point for 8th (1pt increments)
OVERALL POINT WINNER EARNS A PRODIGY PASS (Tie breaker goes to higher finishing racer in race #1 of two-race LCF**)

*Racing Prodigy will provide the locked-in membership list with iRacing ID’s to iRacing for entry into the official series. If you purchase an annual Racing Prodigy Membership with the PRL iRacing Game Pass or Combo Game Pass after February 29 at 9:00 AM you will not be able to participate in this series but will for all future events during your active membership period.
