Racing Prodigy Unveils First Esports Tournament on Raceroom; Winner Earns the Chance to Launch Real Life Racing Career

The PRL RaceRoom Tatuus F4 Cup Challenge will kick off on August 21 in conjunction with the release of the new Gran Turismo movie

The world’s first e2Real sports league expands its search for racing prodigies with its third racing game partner, on the heels of crowning its first mobile winner

JACKSONVILLE, FL, August 9, 2023 – Racing Prodigy™, a groundbreaking sports, entertainment, and media property, announced today that the fourth tournament of season 1 of the Prodigy Racing League™ (PRL™) will begin on August 21 on the PC racing simulation, RaceRoom. The tournament kicks off in conjunction with Sony Pictures’ release of the highly anticipated Gran Turismo movie, inspired by the true story of Jann Mardenborough, a teenage Gran Turismo video game player who became a professional real world race car driver.

The e2Real™ sports league’s first tournament on RaceRoom, PRL RaceRoom Tatuus F4 Cup, will continue Racing Prodigy’s mission to open motorsports to all using esports, greatly reducing the financial barriers to entry and giving millions the chance to live their dream of a professional racing career.

In the PRL RaceRoom Tatuus F4 Cup, sim racers will begin the competition in a qualifying format, piloting the Tatuus F4 race car on the historic Hockenheimring. By the end of this first stage concluding September 3, the top 40 drivers will advance to the semi-final races that will be live streamed on Racing Prodigy’s YouTube channel on Saturday, September 9, starting at 1:00 pm EDT. The top 10 in each race will move on to the final on September 10 to compete for the Prodigy Pass – an all-expense paid trip to compete in Radical SR1 race cars at Atlanta Motorsports Park and the opportunity to earn a paid racing contract.

“RaceRoom’s passion for finding and building talent made our partnering with Racing Prodigy a no-brainer,” said Holger Stangl, Head of Business Development at RaceRoom. “Through our commitment to realism and accuracy in simulation, we have seen first-hand the impact RaceRoom has had in helping virtual racers prepare and make the leap into being real-world drivers, with one of our players currently racing in the real DTM. We look forward to watching the PRL RaceRoom Tatuus F4 Cup winner take that next step at Prodigy Week.”

To be eligible to win the PRL RaceRoom Tatuus F4 Cup, racers must register at www.RacingProdigy.com, and be at least 13 years old by the final day of daily qualifiers. RaceRoom is available to download for free on Steam.

Tournament participants who finish in the top 500 may submit an entry to be selected by the Prodigy Search Committee for another chance at securing a Prodigy Pass for a trip to Atlanta to pursue their dream.

Nearly 25,000 racers worldwide competed in Prodigy Racing League’s recently completed tournament on the mobile racing game Street Kart Racing. Laurens Beerten of Belgium became the first Prodigy Pass winner from a mobile platform. He will join PRL iRacing GR86 Cup winner, 20 year-old Gustavo Ariel of Brazil, at Prodigy Week™ in Atlanta with more to come.

Following the first Prodigy Week, Racing Prodigy plans to host a second Prodigy Week in early 2024 with an additional 35 Prodigy Pass winners, creating a pool of 50 of the world’s most talented drivers from which PRL teams will draft. The plan is for those drafted to receive a paid contract to compete in PRL’s first real-world racing series in the United States, to be launched in 2024.
